Ladyfest South 2007 will be raising money for two
beneficiaries: Fund for Southern Communities and Rock
‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls. More info about these two
organizations can be found in our "about" page.
Ladyfest
South is a non-profit, Southern-based, four-day festival that
showcases, celebrates, and promotes the artistic, organizational, and
political talents of women in order to raise money for social service
projects that assist women. Ladyfest South occurred in 2002 and 2004;
and benefited organizations such as Project Safe in Athens, Georgia;
Refuge House in Tallahassee, Florida; DeKalb Rape Crisis Center;
Women's Resource Center to End
Domestic Violence; Youth Pride in Atlanta.
Featuring
talented women from diverse backgrounds, Ladyfest South includes live
music, spoken word, theatre performances, visual art exhibits, films,
workshops, and more. It is an empowering endeavor built upon a solid
foundation of activism and education mixed with a little entertainment
and fun.
Volunteer-driven
and organized by women, Ladyfest South welcomes everyone-of all ages,
genders, backgrounds and communities- to attend and participate.
The
next Ladyfest South will occur January 25-28, 2007 in metro Atlanta,
GA. In the meantime, join us here in planning, networking, getting a
sneak-peek of the festival, and otherwise rabble-rousing.
